We designed an open “brewing theater” for the pop-up space of Niceness Coffee at MixC Mall in Shenyang. The space hosts a rotating lineup of outstanding baristas from across the country.

With the circle as the geometric origin, the bar stands at the very center, where baristas perform their craft like actors on stage. Guests are seated around them, and each cup of coffee becomes a performance worth watching.

Inspired by the image of a coffee whirlpool, the entire space unfolds in a circular motion from the center outward. The bar, seating areas, floor patterns, and wall installations are all defined by sweeping curves. Like a drop of milk falling into dark coffee, the spatial elements gently ripple outward, diffusing softly from the core.

The color palette echoes the gradients of coffee—from pale cream and oat to warm caramel and deep brown. Soft, pleated fabrics and layered wood finishes evoke subtle sensory associations.

Rather than adding decoration, we used minimal interventions to shape the spatial rhythm. Paved patterns on the floor define circulation and function, reinforcing the whirlpool concept. Low-profile seating ensures open sightlines, making watching part of the experience.
